About the My Family Series
Helping Kids Understand Life’s Tough Moments—One Gentle Story at a Time
The My Family series is a heartfelt collection of picture books created to help young children (ages 5–7) understand and navigate some of life’s most difficult topics—from saying goodbye to a loved one, to adoption, living with a disability, or growing up in a family that looks a little different than their friends’.
Each book tells a tender, age-appropriate story through the eyes of a young child, offering a sense of comfort, understanding, and emotional safety. With soft pastel illustrations, honest language, and relatable family dynamics, the My Family series is a gentle bridge for conversations that many adults find hard to begin.
These books are more than stories—they’re tools. Tools for parents, grandparents, teachers, therapists, and caregivers who want to support the children in their lives with love, empathy, and truth.
Why this series matters:
I created these books because I’ve had to sit down with my own granddaughter and help her understand grief and loss. I know how tough it is to find the right words. The My Family series is my way of helping others find those words too.
Whether your child is dealing with change, facing big emotions, or just learning to understand the world around them, the My Family books are here to help guide that journey—with heart, care, and honesty.
Titles include:
My Family – Says Goodbye to Grandma
My Family – Says Adoption is Love
My Family – Uses a Wheelchair
My Family – Lives Apart
My Family – Is More Than One Color
Perfect for:
Families seeking support during life transitions
Teachers and school counselors
Therapists working with children
Churches and community groups
Funeral homes and adoption agencies
If you're looking for a gentle way to help the little ones in your life feel seen, supported, and safe—you’ve found it.
The titles listed above are just the start of what is planned for this series. I know this, because there are many more “difficult talks” parents have with their children.
